Students from the Engineer Girls of Türkiye (EGT) project competed for “SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities” from the Sustainable Development Goals at the 'Ideathon' organised for the second time this year, as part of the certificate programmes.
Within the scope of the EGT project, participants benefit from the “Sustainable Leadership in Technology Focus” certificate programme designed in cooperation with the Women in Technology Association (Wtech). Within the scope of the certificate programme, students who receive different trainings in the fields of R&D, innovation, digital transformation, sustainability, analytical and creative thinking have the opportunity to put their training into practice with Ideathon and develop project ideas that are applicable and provide solutions to regional problems.
The 9 Engineer Girls of Türkiye teams competing in the Ideathon produced ideas in line with the SDG-11, “Sustainable Cities and Communities”, and the 5 finalist teams shared their projects with the jury members. Originality, creativity, sustainability, applicability, added value, presentation techniques and teamwork criteria were evaluated in the projects presented.
Among the winning projects, “W - Cycle”, which aims to reduce the use of cargo bags, came first. Second place was awarded to the “Sustainability in Agriculture” project, and third place was awarded to the “Minimum Risk” project, which developed an audible warning system to reduce the loss of life during an earthquake.
